MINISTRIES AND DEPARTMENTS
Besides the general congregation, the activities of MMCI are carried out through branches, which are made up of the membership in terms of gender, age, interests, and expertise, among other things. The category of departments in the church are as follows:
Women Ministry
The primary vision of the MMCI women’s ministry, also known as Favoured Women, is to empower women in all aspects of their lives spiritually, physically, financially and psychologically. Various levels of support are provided to women in the ministry – these include support in the areas of birth, marriage, bereavement, illness and other personal issues that affect women at various stages of life. At the core of the Women’s Fellowship is supporting the pastor to take their positions in the Kingdom of God and be effective in their calling areas.
Men Ministry
The Men’s fellowship in Mountain Movers Chapel International comprises all male adults who meet periodically to pray and discuss the empowerment and role of men in the body of Christ. These informal deliberations are set to help them to perform their roles as parents as effectively as possible.
Youth Ministry
MMCI Youth Ministry places great emphasis on building the character of young men and women in the body of Christ and guiding them by Biblical principles. This ministry especially means a lot to the senior pastor because he sees them as the church’s future and places great emphasis on teaching them principles to build their character and prepare them for the future as they contend with the pressures of this world. The youth are encouraged to excel in their education and to exercise their God-given talents and gifts.
Children Ministry
The children’s department in Mountain Movers Chapel International is a department that caters for the needs of the children in the church. This department is divided into three streams, 0-5, 6-9 and 10-15 years. Teachers from within the Church who have been provided with certificates from the Criminal Records Bureau are employed to be in charge. Crèche facilities are provided for the babies, and food and toys are made available to make them happy and concentrate on their service. The teachers in this department skilfully impart to the children their first contact with God and the Bible and make sure that an indelible mark of both is left in their minds since this goes a long way in shaping their destiny.
Marriage Ministry
MMCI believes in the Biblical principle of marriage between a man and a woman. As such, a team of church ministers and leaders are responsible for guiding, educating and equipping couples with biblical and practical knowledge of Christian marriage with the goal for them to achieve a long-lasting marriage. Every couple planning to enter a marriage covenant in MMCI must undergo mandatory pre-marriage counselling. Other support provided by the marriage committee includes working through the marriage checklist to ensure the couple have not overlooked essential things, guidance on planning the wedding and encouraging and offering prayer support for the couple leading up to the marriage and after.
Welfare Department
This department focuses on supporting the needs and well-being of church members, whether physical, spiritual, financial or emotional. The department’s aims underpin the core purpose and mission of MMCI: to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every part of the world, win souls and bring people to the knowledge of God. Within this department are sub-teams such as hospitality, welcoming and follow-up. Key activities include support in grief, birth, marriage, sickness/illness, unemployment and community outreach.
Music Ministry
This department is an integral part of the church as it sets the atmosphere of church services. MMCI believes in the power and movement of the Holy Spirit and understands that the worship leader is used as an instrument to lead the body of believers to magnify the greatness of God through a divine combination of God’s word and music. This can bring down the glory of God to touch the lives and work miracles for those gathered.
Media Department
The MMCI media department is responsible for recording and projecting various church messages through visual and sound media. The media outreach programs include radio broadcasts and live streaming via Facebook as and when scheduled.
Ushering Department
The ushering department of MMCI is one of the critical teams of church workers that have an opportunity to impact the lives of new and existing individuals in the church and is viewed as an extension of the pastor’s hand. The department is run by a team of dedicated women whose main task is to welcome people to services by presenting a joyful attitude, making them feel welcome and comfortable and ensuring that everything is flowing in an orderly manner so that everyone is free to worship without interruption.
Protocols
Although protocols of MMCI are not security officers, one of their key responsibilities is to observe and be vigilant to prevent any physical attack on the pastor or anyone during church gatherings. While exercising discipline, the Protocol Department works in partnership with the ushering department and must do so lovingly and caringly. They also must ensure that all vehicles of church members and visitors are appropriately parked to avoid congestion and accidents in the car park.
Prayer Tower
This is a team of dedicated church members committed to interceding for the church. These spirit-filled men and women pray continually and effectively for others in the way Scripture teaches. Prayer warriors pray to God the Father (Matthew 6:9) in the power of the Holy Spirit [Ephesians 3:16; Jude 1:20] and the name of Jesus [John 14:13]. As Christians, we believe we are engaged in a spiritual battle and have a responsibility to fight the good fight of faith, wearing the full armour of God and praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests [Ephesians 6:10-18].
